In fact, machines have experienced several stages of innovations and advancements. Cars especially have come a long way in recent years.

The earliest trace of cars is linked to Italian pioneer Leonardo Da Vinci in 1478. However, this was merely in the form of a sketch. Nearly three centuries later, a primitive vehicle in the shape of a tractor was constructed in France for agricultural usage. Proceedings were expedited in the 19th century with the advent of the combustible engine. Carriages were assembled and patents were filed. Soon enough, a rudimentary and legitimate version of a car was developed.

The responsible personality was Karl Benz, who would go on to become the father of Mercedes Benz. The invention heralded further advancements. Science has enabled makers to innovate and make decisive breakthroughs. You must be wondering what all of this has to do with Tesla. Read on to find out!

Introduction

Tesla has taken the drive to innovate to an all-different playing field. Unlike other esteemed car manufacturers, Tesla Inc. does not have an illustrious history spanning decades. The company’s roots are grounded firmly in the 21st century, since being founded in 2003.

Based in California, Tesla, named after electrical engineer Nikola Tesla, is basically known for being a huge player in the energy sector. But it has also made significant strides in the automotive industry in its short life. More specifically, it is identified with cars running on electricity. Speaking of which, the company has been a catalyst for change. Its revolutionary electric cars have caused a stir in the gasoline-fueled industry.

Co-founder and current Chief Executive Officer, Elon Musk’s, aggressive approach has led to production more than doubling and sales trebling in the last three years alone. Such astounding success has led to the company being ranked in the Fortune 500 list and toppling established names such as Ford in terms of market capitalization.

Models

It is important to note how and why Tesla’s stellar ascension came about. The modern manufacturer currently offers 3 models: Model S, Model X and Model 3.

Model S

The honor of being Tesla’s first car belongs to the sports car Roadster, which has been discontinued since 2012. That same year, the organization delivered Model S. The sedan broke new ground with its contemporary electric drive. It is important to delve into its specifications to comprehend its ingenuity. With up to 300 miles of range, the sedan can apparently complete 0-60 miles per hour in just 2.5 seconds. Not bad for a car sans ignition. Not bad at all.

Furthermore, it houses 5 passengers, much like the standard vehicle and has a top speed of 155 miles per hour. Beyond the basic details, we can highlight its mechanical designations as well. The S has a 3 Phase, 4 Pole Electric engine with a 100-kilowatt battery. It comes equipped with 1-speed automatic transmission and a 9.73 axle ration also.

These are just some of the multitude features that car is equipped with. Feedback has been particularly overwhelming. Model S sales have quadrupled in 2017, well on its way to becoming the highest-selling electric car outright in history.

Model X

The S edition is not the only Tesla creation that has garnered acclaim. The X model, released in 2015, has received wholesale recognition as well. What distinguishes it from its predecessor is that the X is an all-purpose luxury SUV crossover. The seven-seater wagon is another environment-friendly magnum opus from Tesla. It covers the regulation 0-60 miles per hour barrier in just 3.3 seconds.

The sleek jeep has a high tech cabin and falcon-wing doors, much like the DeLorean DMC-12 from the popular Back to the Future franchise. It offers a uniform speed direct-drive and contains 532 horsepower as well. It is advertised by its makers as the safest and most capable SUV in history. Such substantial claims are up for debate among car fanatics; the fact of the matter is that the X has definitely piqued the interest of consumers.

Sales have spiked since its inception. It has become the highest-selling plug-in electric car in several regions such as Scandinavian country Norway. It has sold an accumulated 72,000 units in the USA to date.

Model 3

The name indicates that this model is Tesla’s first transport built on its third-generation platform. A highly anticipated model, the 2016 edition garnered well over 300,000 reservations within a week of its unveiling. Given the price range, this equates to an estimated 14 billion dollars in sales for the company. Similar to the other models, the response has been truly staggering.

Promoted as an economical electronic sedan, it has a range of 220 miles on a solitary charge, with an optional battery augmenting that to 300 miles or so. The 3 is deliberately built for mass consumption. It provides regular attributes and guarantees convenience, safety, and efficiency. Prices for the triumvirate models range from the lower end of the spectrum (Model 3 is the affordable alternative starting from 35,000 dollars) to the exorbitant end (Model X is costlier given its SUV status and has a six-figure price).

Future

In keeping with its assertive modus operandi, Tesla has promised that the next version, dubbed Model Y would be a 3/X hybrid, cheaper crossover vehicle. Current chairman and C.E.O. Elon Musk has also pledged to produce more reasonable cars in greater volume.

Moreover, Tesla’s exquisite portfolio is not just limited to mainstream electronic cars. They also produce solar panels and have firmly planted their proverbial feet in the energy industry. Given their propensity to innovate, the future is certainly bright for Tesla.
